Description

Professor Pauline Nestor, Senior Vice-Provost and Vice-Provost (Research) invites you to attend the launch of an online resource:

Mental Health and Supported Decision Making: Experiences of those with Lived Experience and their Carers

by

The Honourable Martin Foley MP, Minister for Mental Health

at the Monash Law Chambers (Auditorium)

555 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne

on Thursday, 16 June 2016 from 3pm to 4pm

The online resource forms part of a joint Monash University and University of Melbourne Australian Research Council Linkage project: Options for Supported Decision Making to Enhance the Recovery of People with Severe Mental Health Problems. This project is being conducted by Chief Investigators, Associate Professor Renata Kokanovic (Monash University), Professor Bernadette McSherry, Professor Helen Herrman and Dr Lisa Brophy (University of Melbourne) in association with a range of partner organisations.

The internet resource is comprised of two websites that are the first in Australia to present the lived experiences of a diverse group of people diagnosed with severe mental health problems and family carers. The websites include participants’ perspectives on supported decision making and personal recovery. Both websites will be used to support people diagnosed with severe mental health problems to make informed decisions about their health and care and provide an educational resource for family members, carers and support persons, mental health practitioners, policy makers and the wider Australian community

The launch follows the workshop presenting major project findings (please register separately for the workshop).
